"A world that is unapologetically hers. Where art becomes a space to play, remember and invent."
Zoubida is the artistic alter ego of Sophia Kacimi, a Franco-Moroccan creative whose work blends personal memory with collective heritage through vibrant compositions that feel both playful and profound.
Born in France to a French mother and a Moroccan father, she grew up in Toulouse with regular journeys to Khenifra, Rabat and Casablanca, and has lived in London since 2016. Zoubida's aesthetic lives at the intersection of North African visual tradition, contemporary graphic design and joyful resistance. She reinterprets everyday symbols, from tiles and carpets to urban signs and family relics, into a universe of layered colours and coded forms.
After a decade in luxury fashion with houses including Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Alexander McQueen and Burberry, she built Zoubida around tlamt, the jacquard upholstery fabric of Moroccan homes, made entirely by hand with artisans in Morocco. Through art-to-wear, textiles, sculptural pieces and installations such as Play on Craft, she creates a world where art becomes a space to play, remember and reframe what it means to inherit and invent at once. She received the Craft & Commitment Prize in 2024 and the Creative Entrepreneur Prize in 2025 from the Institut du Monde Arabe.
